Geography Trip to University of Manchester

In March Irlam & Cadishead Year 9 Geographers headed out to the University of Manchester to take part in an ‘Insight into Geography Day.’

The students found themselves in the role of undergraduate for the day, having the opportunity to experience ‘A day in the life of a Geographer’ at this Russell Group University.

Our Year 9 Geographers took part in a lively Question and Answer session with present undergraduates discovering more about important issues such as finance, studying and taking part in the nightlife of the city!

The students were privileged to sit in on a lecture presented by Dr Jennifer O’Brien, on the theme of ‘The Challenges Facing our Modern World.’

They also had a taste of how to complete research and how vital it is to an undergraduate. After lunch in University Place the students took part in lab visits in the School of Environment and a quiz about location on the University campus.

The students were all in awe at the size of the University and the ‘buzz’ of student life!
