Our mission in SEND is to remove barriers to learning for our students with special educational needs and disabilities to enable them to reach their full potential.
Specialisms within the department include:
- Speech and Language
- English as an Additional Language
- Social Emotional Mental Health Support
Our highly qualified SENCO and team of teaching assistants support and assist students using personalised strategies for each young person. Alongside the excellent, in class, one to one Teaching Assistant support, we offer additional interventions for students. These include literacy and numeracy, support at social times for our students with communication issues and, access to specialist professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, the Secondary Inclusion Service, the Learning Support Service, and specialist teachers for visually and hearing impaired students.
We are constantly developing ourselves as a department to be able to offer our students more and more support through staff training and buying in resources that can remove barriers to learning for our students.
