Aspire, Work Hard & Achieve at Irlam & Cadishead College – ‘Class of 2017’ Year 11 Results Day
I am delighted to report considerable improvement in outcomes and results at Irlam & Cadishead College, a testament to the hard work of teachers, students and support from parent and carers of which ‘all’ should be deservedly proud of!
Today, nationally, all schools are faced with having to report outcomes using new measures and it is recognised that students have encountered far more rigour and challenge in the reformed GCSEs. Results of the ‘Class of 2017’ Irlam & Cadishead validate our school improvement journey which is on the right trajectory to it becoming an outstanding school. Students have outperformed last year’s results with performance measures showing that students have made significantly more progress from their starting points from primary school and across their ‘best’ 8 subjects.
Using new reporting measure, the headline figure of 4+ Basic (English and Maths) is 52% which is an improvement of 8% on last year’s figures and in line with local authority trend of outcomes. There is significant improvement in top grades, those which have been previously reported as A*/A and A* – C results in a range of subjects, notably, to name but a few, Mathematics, Additional Science, Biology, French, Spanish, Art, Music and Business Studies.
We are proud of all our students and their achievements who deserve to celebrate with their families their individual successes. The new ‘9’ Grade is significant in that it is viewed as being above the ‘old’ A* grade and is only awarded to a very small percentage of the top performing students across the country. Two students secured a ‘9’ grade in English Language, and a further student achieved a ‘9’ grade in both English Language and English Literature!
It is absolutely fantastic to see so many happy students collecting their results and confidently moving on to their next stage of work or training as a result of attending Irlam & Cadishead College. These landmark results pave the way to Irlam & Cadishead College becoming the school of first choice in its local community.
