Geography Trip to University of Manchester

In March Irlam & Cadishead Year 9 Geographers headed out to the University of Manchester to take part in an ‘Insight into Geography Day.’ The students found themselves in the role of undergraduate for the day, having the opportunity to experience ‘A day in the life of a Geographer’ at this Russell Group University. Arabic Taster Lessons

Once again our Modern Foreign Linguists have been developing their skills. Eight of our Year 9 students; Tom Smith, Libby Barker, Ben Thomas, Kira Mulvey, Abbie Rowbotham, Leonie Brown, Kim Magee and Sarah Hobson have been taking part in a project with the University of Manchester. They have been learning a new language, Arabic. Learning this language provides an extra challenge. Salford Royal Clinical Simulation Evening

Thirteen future medics from Year 10 and 11 attended a Clinical Simulation Evening at Salford Royal. One of the aims of the evening was to raise awareness of the fact that there are over 350 different career pathways in the NHS and not all of them include being a doctor or a nurse. The students also undertook CPR training where they practised on a working model. They learned to look for signs of life and how to use a defibrillator.
