Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to Irlam & Cadishead Academy, a £26 million state-of-the-art secondary school. Our community offers an environment where students’ behaviour is impeccable; they treat each other and staff with real respect, have a genuine enjoyment of school and enjoy their learning. Irlam & Cadishead Academy has a relentless drive and determination to ensure the best possible education for students in our care, and that all our students Aspire, Work Hard and Achieve.

Our passion for learning and high expectations drive a culture of aspiration and ambition throughout the school. With our broad curriculum we offer students the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability and we support them to become caring and confident citizens of tomorrow. Through the cultivation of strong links with universities, local colleges, businesses and community groups we prepare our students for working life in the modern world.

Ms T Holdsworth - Principal

We celebrate the pursuit of excellence and encourage each individual to achieve their personal best. We provide students with an education that is built on a tradition of courtesy and mutual respect.  All students receive an education that prepares them for successful, fulfilled lives in this demanding twenty-first century.

The success of our school is not just based on the aptitude of our students, but on the expertise of our staff to nurture each individual. Students are challenged and supported to maximise their achievement. They are expected to actively participate in school life and make a valuable and sustained contribution to their wider community.  We are incredibly proud to deliver an Education with Character – an education that challenges, inspires and excites our students and prepares them for the ups and downs of life. As well as ensuring our students succeed in exams, we aim to develop character, compassion and a sense of responsibility. We want students to stretch themselves, to persist in the face of difficulty and become resilient to overcoming obstacles. We want every one of our students to leave Irlam and Cadishead Academy with learned knowledge, skills, experiences and memories which will contribute to their personality, support them on their life’s journey and remain with them throughout their lives.

"There is some highly effective marking in English where pupils have clearly thought about the feedback they have received and improved their writing in response."
